i’m very proud and excited to share my new song- (hallelujah – adapted from leonard cohen’s 1984 song) hope you like!

editing with visuals is complete! will post on youtube.

we lived in africa in warm tropical climate
ate fruits in trees like other primates
heavenly mangos, papayas, persimmons – perfect food – yah

a change in weather made us come down
our smiling lips turned to a frown
could barely hear though the universe still proclaimed – hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

fear of predators mixed with curiosity
caused us to wander endlessly
seeking food, water, safety, shelter – you don’t blame us – do ya?

some of us wandered way far northin the freezing cold. we seemed truly lost.
seeking our original forest and loving force, of hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

this frightening time in our history
our species suffered great miseries
chased by tigers, lions, leopards, and pumas

we devised escapes, grew a bigger brain
but from the trauma, nearly went insane
could barely hear though the universe still proclaimed – hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

these carnivorous cats seemed nature’s match
in their speedy jaws, a deer, they’d catch
but neither speed, jaws, claws, nor digestive tract did nature imbue us

we copied these cats became copycats
stole baby herbivores, from their mommies’ lap
across the maps, we zapped their grasp of … hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

it’s true our northern ancestors faced cold necessities.
yet living off other animals ignored our own anatomical and psychological realities
we are not carnivores and our human mommies produce milk for us, their own babies – goo goo ga ga.

we ignored that we were herbivores,
our hearts turned cold to the blood and gore
and more and more we were forlorn to restore our hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

eating an apple not a rabbit is baby’s natural pick.
consuming dead animals, their milk and eggs, made us sick
though a toxic mix we did stick to this gruesome stew ya?

this created a divide. we were living a lie
our true peaceful, herbivorous, side was denied.
deep inside is always transcribed, the eternal prize of hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

those humans who settled more south and east
made grains, legumes and peas their feast.
some producing a surplus, too much for one family to eat or consume ya?

this could feed others who were freed to discover
other ways to produce or inventions uncover
science, progress, the human species creating our own unique… hallelujah
hallelujah 4x

yet this began a time on planet earth
when humans thought (other) animals had no worth
cruelly exploited them for food and clothing, i sadly remember – do ya?

we tortured them when they were alive
stole their milk, their eggs, their fur, their hides

for this cruel sacrifice we ourselves were denied, our …hallelujah
hallelujah X4

up north, their herbivorous animals needed fresh grazing lands
the grass got used up and this made demands
to constantly move to warmer climes, more sunshine, lusher land and people with tans
civilizations’ womb, ya?

on horses, they moved cattle south and across eurasia
starting with violence to animals, they didn’t hesitate to invade ya
meat, milk eggs on tables of these self-proclaimed saviors who in truth betrayed … our hallelujah

raping, stealing, killing people south in india and west in europe
these northerners had the horse and their foot in the stirrup
this equine advantage over many years of warring did accrue, ya?

finally, farmers growing grains and animal herders found peace
though domination and oppression of animals, darker skinned people, women never ceased
and the agricultural increase did hold on lease our …  hallelujah

capital wealth measured per capita or head of chicken, pig or cow
most ruthless were with wealth and power endowed
raping, stealing, killing became the rich man’s weapon and tool ya?

those lacking heart and conjuring military might
were able with bombs to turn day into night
starting with dominating other species, we were ALL deprived our rights to … hallelujah

most plant food went to animals called livestock
while 60,000 humans starved to death daily around the clock
how did you and i let these cruel killers fool ya

land was used up, deserts created
breeding, feeding, debeaking, capital never satiated
the exploitation of the other abated our innate …. hallelujah

religion got founded on sacrificing a cow or bull
if we can kill other animals, the human population we can also cull
a warring, violent god justified that they were obliged to brutally rule ya

master species, master race,
killing to satiate our taste is a tragic waste
instead, plant food on our plates gives thanks and grace to our hallelujah

when we finally awoke, heard their grievous cries
saw our dreadful crimes and were horrified
our voices grew loud from deep inside – thanks to yah!

we organized and exposed the lies
joined other oppressed groups, we grew in size
eventually causing the entire brutal empire’s demise. …oh  hallelujah
hallelujah X4

now the world is communal and vegan, we respect our kin
one heart, one soul, all earthlings are friends
this unending love journey- a message it sends – to renew ya

with remorse for ever having exploited a chicken, cow, fish, human or horse
we rely on plants as our sole food-clothing source
having restored history to this wise & glorious course of … hallelujah

hallelujah X4

About blossomfire

I've walked this life path with sweet thoughts and burning wishes, a sound sense of purpose and an urgent need to express. Shy at first, I've overcome oceans of self doubt and self consciousness to seek an audience, ears like blossoms bending to the wondering wind. I am simple now. I am simple as a way to reach out. Worlds, galaxies, pivotal people, mushrooms, spiraling whilrlpools, i'm textured and wired for communication. Simply wired for fundamental transformation. A vision. A quest. A manifestation of divine Life, Light and Love. My name means Grace. A free gift, a talent, a value from the ultimate word maker, the Infinite Mind of the Infinite One. My mind to yours. Tree to limb, leaf to belief, falling and rising and knowing at the same time. Im Nancy (Grace) and grateful to know you.
